Heloise Baylão, a Brazilian singer was born in Goiânia (State of Goiás/Brazil).
She has been living in Rotterdam/The Netherlands since 2001 and in that city she was able to improve her experience in music as well as her interaction with other artists.
She began her musical career when she started studying Classical Piano at the age of five. When she turned six years old she was then admitted to the Musical Conservatory of the Federal University of Goiás, where she initiated her musical studies. At that particular moment she developed her real taste for music. Later on she learned how to play the guitar with whom the musician Euripedes Fontenelle, with who she really discovered her talent to sing.
She has acquired stage skills by joining two important drama groups in Goiás: “ Grupo Deixaeuteolhardecimaembaixo” directed by the actor and director Odilon Camargo, and also the group “Martim Cererê” directed by the actor and director Marcos Fayad. In her shows she was also directed by the Scenographer, actress and director Tetê Caetano.
She has enhanced her vocal techniques, voice clarity, timbre and ability to improvise while attending singing classes at The Federal University of Goiás with well known teachers Bartira, Angela Barra and Norika Barra.
During many years she has performed in restaurants, bars, theatres, congresses, conferences and cultural events within the state of Goiás and the Federal Capital. The media from the Federal Capital has constantly been very supportive of Heloise by promoting her hard work and her obvious talent. Her name was constantly printed among the most important newspapers from the State of Goias and also the Federal Capital (Brasilia).
In addition, she has been always invited to perform on the major radio and television shows such as: “ Frutos da Terra and “ Jornal do Almoço” (Anhanguera-State of Goias), “ Jornal do Meio Dia” ( Serra Dourada TV- State of Goiás) , “ Goiânia Urgente” (Record TV- State of Goiás), “ Revista das Onze” (Brasil TV Central State of Goiás), TV Globo- DF (Federal Capital), TV Bandeirantes (Federal Capital), Jornal “O Popular” (State of Goiás), “ Jornal Diário da Manhã” (State of Goiás), “Radio Executiva FM (State of Goiás), “ Radio Terra FM” (State of Goiás), Radio Nacional (Federal Capital); Radio Verde Oliva (Federal Capital);Radio Senado (Federal Capital);
During many years, along with her solo career, Heloise has created an “informal” company with a more original “musical tone” called “ Disque Serenata” . Singing with the violinist Silvinho de Queiroz and also the violinist Davi de Oliveira, Heloise was able to perform to various types of occasions such as receptions, birthday parties, company parties and surprise parties for assorted kinds of people. The singer has definitely conquered her space in the state Goias by taking her music wherever there were “sensible hearts” ready to listen to her. The “ Disque Serenata” was even projected nationally when it appeared in the mid afternoon national news “ Jornal Hoje”, broadcasted by TV Globo in Brazil.
In 1999, she released her first album in Brazil. “Heloise Baylao” consisted of nine songs which contained a “pop/romantic” musical style.
In 2001, along with other 24 Brazilian artists, the singer travelled to The Netherlands, specifically to Rotterdam. During that year, the city held the title of the “ Cultural City of Europe”. Over there, Heloise participated in a project of cultural exchange between Brazil and The Netherlands called “ Mãos, Pés, e Bocas do Cerrado”. This cultural project was organized by Wim Keursten. Within this project Heloise also became a part of many other important events which also took place in Rotterdam, where then she decided to relocate permanently.
With her band, she has participated in great events such as: Dunya Festival (Rotterdam), “ Dias Latinos” Festival (Amersfoort) among others. Her repertoire compromises the best of Brazilian Music with assorted types of rhythms such as “bossa nova”, “samba”, “xote”, “baião” and also romantic music.
Throughout the Samba de Quintal Foundation (founded by her and by Frans Geene and Wim Keursten), Heloise produced and presented the first Brazilian TV program in The Netherlands entitled “ Samba de Quintal” (2004-2007). The program was broadcasted within the major cities in The Netherlands and it was also available online.
Heloise Baylao is releasing a new Album entitled “ Ta Escrito”.
